The event was held at Mold Alexandra FC in Mold. Cygnet Delfryn’s relationship with Mold Alexandra FC started five years ago when the company became the club’s primary sponsor. The partnership has flourished since then with the club providing volunteer opportunities for service users as well as fee tickets to matches. In return the team at Cygnet Delfryn have provided mental health awareness training to staff at Mold Alexandra FC.
The partnership between Delfryn and Mold Alexandra FC has more recently expanded to include another of Delfryn’s partner organisations, Cyfle Cymru. Led by rehab and recovery charity CAIS, Cyfle Cymru supports individuals with mental health and substance misuse difficulties into employment or education.
The event was attended by a number of other local organisations including the Wildlife Trust, Autism Society, Groundworks and MIND. Guests included the Mayor of Mold and the local MP. It was Cygnet Delfryn’s pet therapy dog Oscar though who proved to be the most popular guest.
Service users from Cygnet Delfryn were actively engaged on the day welcoming people and running stalls such as face painting. One resident acted as DJ for the event helping to keep a great atmosphere going. Other residents got involved simply through attending or contributing to the “positivity bunting” project containing messages in relation to staying well.
Over £500 was raised for local charity the Counselling Hub. The Counselling Hub provide access to counselling for individuals who would otherwise spend long periods on waiting lists. The event was a great example of what can be achieved when organisations work together.
Well done to the team at Cygnet Delfryn and thanks to everyone else who was involved including the staff at Cyfle Cymru and Mold Alexandra FC.
