Some of the people we support have called Bryn Y Wawr home for more than 35 years, reflecting the stability, quality of support and a strong sense of belonging experienced by both staff and residents.
Community engagement
Community engagement is at the heart of life at Bryn Y Wawr. People frequently enjoy coffee mornings and visits in Llandeilo and take part in local activities such as cinema trips and bowling.

The service is ideally located between the railway stations of Llandeilo and Ffairfach, helping residents access a wide range of activities across the region and making it easy for visitors to access.
Life at Bryn Y Wawr
At Bryn Y Wawr, we encourage individuals to develop confidence and independence.
Support is tailored to each person’s own goals, helping them build and maintain meaningful routines and build connections within their local community.
Residents are encouraged to take pride in their home as their own and are supported with everyday tasks such as washing up, baking and cooking. Everyone is supported to keep their room clean and do their own laundry. Meaning that all residents develop essential daily living skills.
People we support at Bryn Y Wawr enjoy regular activities including swimming, weekly walks through Dinefwr Park, as well as private Pilates classes – held outdoors on the lawn in good weather. Individuals also participate in local groups, volunteering opportunities and community events, fostering independence and social inclusion.
The service benefits from extensive outdoor space, including gardens, fruit trees and a polytunnel where people can grow fruit, vegetables and flowers. An on-site gym and dedicated activities and arts cabin provide space for fitness, creativity, learning and relaxation.
The people we support:
- Adults from the age of 18+ years
- Individuals with a primary diagnosis of learning disability accompanied with behaviours that challenge including mental illness or a forensic background
- Individuals with a secondary diagnosis of personality disorder or autism
- May have communication challenges
- May have associated complex needs
