Quality Improvement Keynote 2023

On Thursday 24th February, members of our Quality Improvement Team held a virtual event to share some achievements and important updates on QI within Cygnet Health Care.

David Wilmott, Director of Nursing, opened the event. He shared his thoughts on what an exciting journey quality improvement had been on over the past year, including a number of successful projects led by service users and residents. David emphasised the ethos of “small changes that have a big impact”, supporting the best possible service user experience.

There was time to reflect on 2022 and highlight some of the key achievements. Following the roll out of training, there are now over 250 level 2 QI practitioners within Cygnet.

The team shared some improvements that have been made to the internal QI Hub, including streamlining processes and the ability to book onto training. The hub aims to keep all things QI in a central location that is simple to navigate.

One of the key focusses of the day was on supporting service users’ voices to be heard. The QI team built a bespoke training package in collaboration with service users at Cygnet Hospital Bury, which is now available to any service user or resident who would like to learn more about how they can make changes and embark on a quality improvement project within their service.

We also heard about the new ways in which the team with be sharing best practice and celebrating achievements, with the launch of quarter roadshows and monthly webinars.

Overall there was lots of exciting initiatives shared, and plenty of opportunities for staff at all levels to get involved with QI.
