One of the staff members identified an unused room at the service and suggested it might be able to be transformed into a new space for the staff to use. Thanks to Pauline, the multiculutral ambassador for the site and Stephen, the hospital manager, the team got the green light to go ahead and begin refurbishments.
Pauline took on the challenge to arrange everything needed to renovate and make the room comfortable and inviting for staff, and with the help of the rest of the team the room is now complete.
During the last 21 months it has been a difficult time for everyone at the unit, who have coped exceptionally. They feel that staff mental health is so important at the work place and The safe haven is in support of staff wellbeing and accessible to everyone.
The Safe Haven has information for a 24 hour helpline in the event of staff requiring additional support and has a ‘Freedom to Speak Up’ card available for anyone who needs it. It also includes information regarding the Multicultural Network, a copy of the Quran, a prayer mat, a bible, a comfortable bean bag and mood light with sounds.
The final touches are the positive quotes on the wall. The team feel very proud to have completed the room together and are very pleased to have the room in support of their staff.
