Well done to the team at Ducks Halt who were shortlisted for a Great British Care Award. The awards pay tribute to individuals and teams who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

Ducks Halt, in Kirby-le-Soken, were named finalists in the Care Home Team category which recognised services that provide first-class care and demonstrate a commitment to dignity and privacy for its residents.

The service, part of the Cygnet Social Care division, supports adults who are living with learning disabilities and complex needs, including those who have additional mental and physical health needs, and behaviours that may challenge.

Nominating her team, Ducks Halt manager Natalie Neeson said: “The team at Ducks Halt have shown compassion, empowerment, care and respect for all of the residents that we support.

“They have enhanced the lives of the residents that we support, helping them to achieve their long and short term goals. New activities have been introduced with residents trying things that they have never done before. This has included kayaking and a booked helicopter ride over London.

“The team have shown empathy and compassion to one of our younger residents when his father was ill and have also supported other residents during times of sorrow. The team have integrated the newer residents with the established residents and have found ways of them all doing things together such as activities which they are all able and willing to do as a group.

“I am very proud to call the team at Ducks Halt my team and will help them achieve the very best in their careers in health and social care.”

After being named finalists, Natalie described how proud she was to have recognition for the team.

She explained: “It felt amazing and humbling getting through to the finals, my team thoroughly deserved this and it was a massive achievement for the team to be recognised by The Great British Care Awards. The team do so much here and they deserve this so much.”

Cygnet Group CEO, Dr Tony Romero, said: “The entire team at Ducks Halt thoroughly deserved to be named as a finalist in the Great British Care Awards.

“At Cygnet Group, we strive to provide the highest quality and standard of care and always put our service users at the heart of what we do. This is demonstrated impeccably by the team at Ducks Halt.

“The staff are compassionate, motivated and value-driven, they are helping to change the lives of service users for the better.”
