Meet the Team

Tracy Laidler - Hospital Manager

Tracy joined the team in 2009 as a senior staff nurse and has worked at St. Augustine’s since its opening and was promoted to Head of Care in 2011 and further promoted to Hospital Manager in 2014. Tracy is a qualified registered mental health nurse and was trained at Keele University. She has 15 years of nursing experience and 22 years’ experience of working in both inpatient and community mental health rehabilitation settings.

Tracy is responsible for ensuring the best quality of care provided at St. Augustine’s. Tracy’s role means she spends a lot of time with service users and takes the time to get to know them as individuals, helping to address any concerns they have and deal with all critical feedback.

Dr Miriam Al-Amin – Responsible Clinician

Dr Al-Amin is the Consultant Psychiatrist at Cygnet St Augustine Hospital. She has worked at St Augustine’s since 2013 as head of the Multi-disciplinary team.

She has a keen interest in the need for rehabilitation and recovery in mental health care and along with the team at St Augustine’s promotes a therapeutic, least restrictive recovery based programme for individuals in our care.

Megan Hicks – Senior Occupational Therapist

Megan is the Lead Occupational Therapist for Cygnet St Augustine’s. Megan has worked at St Augustine’s for the past 8 years and is involved in the creation and updating of the patient’s therapy programme.

The programme at St. Augustine’s includes a variety of therapeutic activities, including self-care, leisure and vocational which can be completed in groups or on a one to one basis in order to overall help patients maintain or improve their independent living skills. Megan works hard alongside the Occupational Therapy Team to get to know the patients on an individual basis in order to incorporate their hobbies and interests into helping them develop a meaningful and structured daily routine.

Sandra Kariwo - Occupational Therapist

Sandra joined the team in August 2021. She is involved in helping the creation and updating of the service users therapy program under supervision from the Senior Occupational Therapist. The programme at St. Augustine’s includes a variety of therapeutic activities, including self-care, leisure and vocational which can be completed in groups or on a one to one basis in order to overall help patients maintain or improve their independent living skills.

Stacey Harley - Head of Care

Stacey qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2010 and worked in private settings until commencing work for Cygnet as a Staff Nurse at St Augustine's in 2013. Stacey successfully progressed to Senior Staff Nurse in 2016 and was promoted into the role as Head of Care in August 2021.

Dr Ayodeji Majek Akande - Speciality Doctor

Dr Ayodeji Majek Akande (Dr Majek) Speciality Doctor is a dedicated mental health professional, teacher and researcher with over 12 years experience in the field of Psychiatry.

Prior to joining Cygnet St Augustine's Hospital as a Speciality Doctor, he worked for about three years as a Consultant Psychiatrist at State Specialist Hospital, Osogbo, Osun State in Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Psychiatry with special interest in General Adult Psychiatry, Old-Age Psychiatry and Clinical Neuropsychiatry.

Samantha Tomkinson - Trainee Forensic Psychologist

Sam has experience in working in adult mental health, learning disability and CAMHS services. She began working for the organisation as an Assistant Psychologist for the company in 2011, and has progressed to a Trainee Forensic Psychologist in 2017, continuing to work towards her chartership as a Forensic Psychologist.

Sam has an interest in Compassion Focused Therapy and Trauma Informed approaches, using a variety of therapeutic approaches to deliver individual and group psychology sessions.
