Phoenix School has achieved a national charity award in recognition of its work to improve support for autistic people.

The National Autistic Society’s Autism Specialist Award is for specialist providers in sectors such as education, social care and the justice system.

The National Autistic Society’s Autism Accreditation Programme is the UK’s only autism-specific quality assurance programme of support and development for all those providing services to autistic people.

Rights Respecting School

The Phoenix School was reaccredited in June 2025 with Silver Status by Unicef’s Rights Respecting Schools programme. The assessor expressed confidence that the school continues to make strong progress towards meeting all the standards and commended its ongoing commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment. It was recognised that the school works diligently to ensure that young people not only learn about their rights but also experience a community where those rights are actively lived, breathed and respected in everyday practice.

The Rights Respecting School Award is an initiative run by UNICEF UK which encourages schools to place the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s planning, policies and practice. A Rights Respecting School is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted.
