Meet the Team

Stephen Smith – Hospital Manager

Stephen qualified as a psychiatric nurse in September 1999. Since then he has worked in forensic mental health hospitals supporting vulnerable people with mental health conditions. He also has experience in community forensic settings working with individuals in various settings including prison, secure hospitals and police custody suites.

In 2014 Stephen joined the team at Cygnet Sedgley Lodge/House as Head of Care. He then transitioned to Cygnet Heathers where he became hospital manager in January 2019 before being appointed Hospital Manager of Cygnet Hospital Oldbury in 2024. Stephen’s passion is to ensure all service users receive the highest levels of care in the safest environment, whilst promoting community reintegration.

Daisy Taylor-Lea – Clinical Manager

Daisy qualified as a psychiatric nurse in 2018. Since then, she has built a diverse and accomplished career across the NHS, working in acute and picu services, crisis teams, and primary care. Progressing through roles such as senior crisis nurse, deputy ward manager, and ward manager, Daisy then went on to become an advanced nurse practitioner/independent nurse prescriber, further enhancing her clinical skills within complex mental health environments.

In May 2024, Daisy joined Cygnet Oldbury ahead of its launch, taking on the role of Clinical Manager. She brought with her frontline and strategic experience, with a particular passion for delivering person-centred care, strengthening clinical governance, and fostering recovery-oriented practice.

Daisy remains committed to ensuring that service users receive the highest standards of care in safe, supportive environments—promoting autonomy, dignity, and recovery focused care.
