Max celebrates 70 dog years at Cygnet Hospital Beckton
Congratulations to Max who is celebrating 70 dog years as a therapy dog at Cygnet Hospital Beckton.
Max qualified as a therapy dog in 2014 and that year began visiting the hospital. He started work as an energetic youngster and is now slower and looking a bit grey! Max even worked through Covid supporting online contact with patients at the hospital.
Max is a popular visitor and enjoys being groomed and fed treats on his visits to the hospital and is described by Judith Etheridge, Hospital Manager, as one of the staff.
He has brought comfort and support to many service users over the years with patients explaining that it’s good to have a dog visit for a number of reasons including “we miss our own pets”, “it’s calming to stroke Max”, and “Max is fun and enjoys eating.”
