DJ visits a big hit at Cygnet Newton House
Twice a month, an external DJ visits Cygnet Newton House who offers a variety of different musical activities for the patients. These include, learning how to use DJ decks, playing instruments, writing/producing music and creating art.
The visits have proved to be a big hit with the men at the service. April Wilsher, Occupational Therapists, said: “He has quickly become a patient favourite with the patients at Cygnet Newton House, with many of them having previously spent time DJing in venues before coming into hospital. They have been given the opportunity to refresh their skills on the decks, whether this be electronically or throwing it back with vinyl’s.
“Seeing the patients reconnect with this previous role and identity is really something special. As you can see, the set-up he brings with him as well is very impressive.”
