Cygnet Maple House patients host gleaming charity fundraiser

Staff and patients at Cygnet Maple House recently buffed up donations with a charity car wash to raise funds for baby loss charity 4Louis.

4Louis is a charity that supports anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and the death of a baby or child.

The organisation provides memory boxes to help families remember their loved one, and offers useful tools, equipment, and training free of charge to hospital units, hospices, and other professionals who work with grieving families.

The charity has been the focus of the Cygnet Maple House’s fundraising efforts for 2025 and the team have raised £1,840 to date, with their recent car wash raising £80.

Cygnet Maple House hosted the local community and special guests from the Integrated Care System, who were visiting the hospital for a tour led by patients, for a charity car wash which saw service users clean and polish a variety of vehicles for a good cause.

Andrew Hemmington-Page, Head of Care at Cygnet Maple House, said: “Despite the questionable weather at points, the car wash was a great success. Our service users had been looking forward to this event for a while and it was brilliant that we were able to raise vital funds for such an amazing charity.

“We chose 4Louis as our charity for the year because, sadly, so many women and families are affected by stillbirths and miscarriages. Our aim is to raise awareness of the charity’s efforts and do our bit to support those suffering.

“Our service users have had a big focus on fundraising the whole year and it’s really given them the chance to engage as a team. Charity events like this are so important as they also bring family, friends, carers and the local community together and help us build positive relationships in our area and beyond.”

One individual supported at Cygnet Maple House highlighted the success of fundraiser: “Our charity car wash was really fun. I did not think washing cars would be that fun, but being able to use the snow foam and jet wash was really therapeutic.”

Since the start of 2025, the Cygnet Health Care service has hosted a variety of fundraising events like a big sleep out, a community bake sale and a sponsored walk.

After smashing their original fundraising target of £1,500, Team Maple House have increased their goal to £2,000 and will continue their charitable fundraising efforts throughout the year.
