Cygnet Acer Clinic wear blue for World Autism Awareness Day
Cygnet Acer Clinic celebrated World Autism Awareness Day by wearing blue, the recognised colour of autism awareness.
One of the patients designed some autism fact sheets to recognise public figures who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and celebrate their achievements, and the team held quizzes and games to explore the diversity of the autistic spectrum. In the afternoon, a drop-in session was facilitated for staff and patients to support the completion of the service’s Autism Environment Tool, which looks at how the physical environment supports the needs of individuals with autism and ways the service can be made more accessible. Everyone was invited to co-produce this audit to ensure it is representative of the people who use and work within the service.
