Cygnet Acer Clinic raises money for the Give A Duck Foundation
The charity provides Chemo Ducks – cuddly companions fitted with medical lines and ports to mirror a child’s own treatment – helping to make cancer care a little less frightening through play therapy.
Throughout the week, Cygnet Acer Clinic held a series of duck-themed fundraising activities including Hook a Duck, arts and crafts, and a delicious buffet complete with duck-decorated cupcakes. Staff and patients donned their best duck-themed fancy dress for a friendly competition. A patient from Lower House took first place, with the Hospital Administrator, dressed as Donald Duck, named runner-up.
Other highlights included a Guess the Duck challenge and a “ducks in a jar” competition, where participants donated £1 for a chance to win a JellyCat ostrich plushie. Families and carers also joined in via the monthly newsletter and during visits, helping to boost donations.
To round off the week, representatives from the Give A Duck Foundation visited Cygnet Acer Clinic to present a cheque and share how the funds raised will help more than 22 children receive their own Chemo Duck – bringing comfort and courage during treatment.
