Co-produced recruitment interviews at Cygnet Hospital Colchester
The Occupational Therapy team at Cygnet Hospital Colchester try to involve people as much as possible in matters that relate to their care, this includes interviewing for new members of staff. They recently conducted interviews for the role of occupational therapy assistant and it was a wonderful opportunity to have one of the patients get involved in the interview process and sit in the interview panel.
On this occasion the patient created his own questions and afterwards said: “I enjoyed the experience and I think it was a valuable exercise and I would love to do it again, asking questions during the interview helped me with my confidence.”
Emmanual Ozowara, Head of Occupational Therapy at Cygnet Hospital Colchester said: “We have involved so many patients during interviews. It is a good opportunity for the candidate to get insights into the views of those we support and for the patient to get to know and interact with candidates.”
