Animal Therapy at Cygnet Oaks
Cygnet Oaks recently welcomed a visit from Leanimals Mobile Zoo, providing our service users with a unique and meaningful therapeutic experience!
Service users were supported to safely interact with a variety of different animals such as snakes, rabbits, mice, cockroaches and skunks.
Occupational Therapist Ella Gibson said: “Animal therapy promotes meaningful activity, sensory regulation and emotional connection with the aim to reduce anxiety as well as providing calming tactile and proprioceptive input. Both patients and staff reported high levels of enjoyment and engagement throughout the session and the OT team would like to thank Leanimals for contributing to a positive and therapeutic atmosphere across the unit.”
