Information on Medications

Together with various psychological and therapy-based approaches, the use of medication is an important element in the treatment of mental health illness. Our service users have access to Patient Information Leaflets (PILs) about any medication they may be prescribed.

The NHS provides a helpful Medicines A-Z on their website. This resource contains details of and answers the most frequently asked questions about a number of medications, including antidepressants, antipsychotics and other drugs that are used to treat mental illness. This information is provided as a useful tool, not just for professionals but also to service users and carers. It includes information on what the drug is, how it should be taken and what the possible side effects might be.
