Dr Bachlani graduated in 2002 from the St Bartholomew’s and Royal London Medical School with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and BSc in Clinical Medicine. Asif completed his psychiatric training in Hampshire and Dorset gaining his CCT in General Adult Psychiatry with sub-speciality in Liaison Psychiatry in 2011. Asif was subsequently awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) in 2019.
Dr Bachlani previously worked for Priory where he was the Clinical lead for the ADHD and Autism Pathway and National Clinical Director for Acute and PICU Network. He has previously held a number of highly regarded clinical, managerial and digital positions across the NHS and independent sector, including Clinical Director, Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), NHS London Clinical Lead for Mental Health Outcomes, and Associate Non-Executive Director (NED) for Kent and Medway Mental Health Trust.
Dr Bachlani continues to serve in a Lead Data and Digital role with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, where he contributes to shaping the College’s digital strategy. Asif is also the Vice Chair of the NHS Benchmarking Mental Health, Autism and Learning Disability Reference Group.
In 2024 he was awarded UK Psychiatrist of the Year (RCPsych) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to digital psychiatry, population mental health, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Dr Bachlani can provide media commentary on a host of subjects including general mental health, digital mental health, population health, Autism and ADHD.
