Case Study: Life at Redlands

My name is Derek* and I live at Redlands. When I moved to Redlands I liked it here, the staff are kind and help me a lot. I settled in quickly.

At Redlands I can do a lot for myself. I really like to cook and I enjoy making dinner not only for myself, but for everyone at Redlands too. At Redlands we enjoy hosting coffee mornings and I like to bake treats for our visitors. I like things tidy and enjoy helping out. I need a little bit of help with my laundry, but the staff are very happy to help me.

Every week, I work in an office where I help the office manager with tasks such as sorting, stamping and delivering post, helping with office supplies and using the franking machine. I like working in the office and helping out where I can. I won an award for my hard work too, which I was surprised to get as I didn’t know I had been nominated!

I don’t like going for walks, but I do enjoy gardening and relaxing in the garden at Redlands. I sometimes play badminton too. I recently went on holiday to a lovely hotel which was close to cafes and shops. I went with my keyworker and we had a lovely time.
