Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapy team at Cygnet Raglan House aims to help the women we support to regain the skills and confidence needed to live as independently as possible.

The team empower individuals to build a fulfilling life through meaningful activities including; self-care, work, education, leisure, and social activities.

Examples of 1:1 interventions include:

  • Developing household skills
  • Developing self-care skills
  • Money management skills
  • Developing community skills to support reintegration
  • Creating individualised routines
  • Creating sensory profiles and sensory diets
  • Cooking Sessions
  • Travel Training
  • Prescribing small aids or adaptations for those experiencing difficulty with physical functioning
  • Developing healthy living skills

We also offer regular groups, including:

  • Recovery Through Activity
  • Sleep Hygiene Skills
  • Sensory Group

Through the above sessions and more, we increase their feelings of competence, meaning and purpose, developing a role identity. In turn, building self-esteem and helping them to achieve their personal goals.

Through collaborative working with the individuals, our clinical team, families and community teams, we build a catalogue of coping strategies to support successful discharges.
