Meet the Team

Tim Wright - Hospital Manager

Tim joined Cygnet in January 2019 at Cygnet Oaks following a successful 21 year career in the NHS. Tim qualified as a mental health nurse in 1996 before going on to study for a BMedSci (Hons) in Forensic Mental Health. With a career in secure service he has taken on many roles from staff nurse, senior staff nurse, clinical team leader, modern matron and hospital security manager. Tim has also been local security management specialist (LSMS) for a large NHS mental health trust.

Tim is always open to new ideas in terms of service user focused outcomes, engaging individuals in meaningful activity and promoting the care pathway to independent living. Tim is also a level 1 table tennis coach and always keen to get others into the sport.

Altina Zimbahwe - Head of Care

Altina qualified as a registered mental health nurse in 2003 from the University of Leeds. Altina started her career with Cygnet in 2003 working in their low secure services, she has also worked within the PICU and Acute services before moving to the Rehabilitation service. Altina became Head of care at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse in July 2021. She is a Trauma Risk Management Practitioner and Reducing Restrictive Practice lead.

Dr Kene Maduekwe - Speciality Doctor

Dr Kene qualified as a medical doctor in 2013 at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. He gained broad clinical experience across several physical health specialties in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. In 2021, he relocated to the UK, where he completed a Master’s degree in Public Health.

Dr Kene began his journey with Cygnet in 2025 as a Bank/On-call Doctor, working within acute services at Cygnet Hospital Harrogate and Cygnet Appletree, as well as in rehabilitation services at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse. He went on to join the Brighouse team on a permanent basis in December 2025.

Chaitali Chandwani - Psychologist

Chaitali is a Practitioner Psychologist with a background in both clinical and organisational psychology. She has worked across clinical, educational, and community settings, supporting individuals with a range of mental health and neurodevelopmental needs.

Chaitali is passionate about creating safe, supportive therapeutic relationships, and working collaboratively with individuals and multidisciplinary teams to support recovery and wellbeing.

Shaun Stevenson - Therapy Manager & Substance Misuse Practitioner

Shaun joined Cygnet Health Care in 2012. Prior to this he worked for 19 years with the Ministry of Justice, holding a number of roles focusing on rehabilitative work. He has facilitated and managed a wide range of offending behaviour programmes using a CBT approach. For the past 9 years Shaun’s specialist area of work has been the development and management of substance misuse programmes in custodial and community settings. He is an experienced trainer of substance misuse workers for CBT group work.

Cordy Askew - Art Therapist

'Cordy Askew is a state registered art therapist with over 20 years post qualifying experience working with people who have mental health problems and Learning Disabilities. She moved to Yorkshire in 2005 to take up a job with Cygnet. Cordy currently works at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse on Thursdays, offering individual and group art therapy treatment.

Carla Davey – HR Administrator

Carla joined Cygnet after gaining over 2 years’ experience in Recruitment within the public and private sector. Carla graduated in 2015 with a First Class Honours Degree in Human Resource Management.

Carla’s main role is to support Cygnet Lodge Brighouse with their HR function including recruitment and retention of staff as well as being responsible for providing the best training development and activities for all staff within the units.
