Meet the Team

Rebecca Fordwor - Hospital Manager (Interim)

Rebecca has worked in health care since 2005, where she particularly enjoys working with adults with mental health issues, especially those with challenging behaviours, forensic needs, personality disorders, self-harm, autism, and enduring mental health problems. Rebecca is passionate about patient-centred care and always aims to deliver a high standard of care for patients whilst ensuring that staff wellbeing is maintained.

She progressed to become a registered mental health nurse, qualifying with MSc. Rebecca’s academic achievements include BA in Psychology, MSc in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience, Counselling Skills, Developing and Enhancing CBT Skills.

Prior to joining Cygnet Health Care, she worked in a range of psychiatric services in the NHS and private sectors. During her time in these sectors, Rebecca gained valuable experience in various roles, including overseeing services such as a low-secure male unit, and a male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

Dr Ajay Bhatnagar - Medical Director

Dr Bhatnagar joined Cygnet in June 2009 as a Consultant Psychiatrist. He was appointed as the Medical Director for Cygnet Blackheath and Cygnet Lodge Lewisham in September 2016. Dr Bhatnagar’s qualifications are MBBS; Diploma in Psychological Counselling; Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic Mental Health.

He is a Fellow of Royal College of Psychiatrists and is a Senior Honorary Clinical Lecturer with King’s College London. He is also the medical member of first tier mental health tribunal service. He has held the position of a Clinical Director and Head of Medical Profession within the Acute and Crisis Directorate at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Bhatnagar has also been the Teaching Lead in Oxleas NHS Trust and Firm Head for psychiatry teaching to medical students from Kings College London from 2008 until August 2020. He has extensive experience of working in both community and inpatient settings within the NHS.

Moses Bonibe - Clinical Service Manager

Moses is a qualified Registered Psychiatric Nurse from Ghana, in 2014. He continued his studied BSc in Nursing at the University of Ghana, Legon, and Sunderland University in London.

Since qualifying in 2014, Moses has gained extensive experience in various healthcare settings, including inpatient mental health wards, community services, general medical and surgical wards in both regional and teaching hospitals in Ghana, demonstrating his competence and adaptability.

Moses joined Cygnet Hospital Blackheath as an overseas nurse in 2021 after successfully registering with the UK NMC. Before becoming the Clinical Service Manager, he gained extensive experience as a staff nurse, Team leader, Acting ward manager, and ultimately transitioned to a Ward Manager.

Moses takes pride in his humility, hard work, and loyalty in his role as a Clinical Service Manager. Moses enjoys leadership roles and loves supporting teams to ensure the effective delivery of quality care, while advocating for patient-centered and least restrictive care.

Lilian Boateng - Ward Manager, Meridian Ward

Lilian has worked at Cygnet Blackheath for the past 14 years, she has gained valuable experience across a wide range of roles including staff nurse, progressed to Clinical Team Leader and now a Ward Manager.

Lilian qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2010 from Kingston University. She also has a BA (Hons) Business Management degree from Westminster University in 2007. Lilian is currently studying to complete her Level 5 Operations / Departmental Management Apprenticeship, previously completed her Level 3 Team Leader / Supervisor Apprenticeship.

Lilian has experience of working in both Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Low Secure wards. She is dedicated to improving the experience for our patients and passionate about creating a therapeutic and recovery-focused environment where patients feel safe, supported, and empowered.

Lilian is a passionate leader and manager who strives to further develop herself and her colleagues and to ensure that the wellbeing of staff are maintained at all times.

Paschal Doozie - Ward Manager, Tyler Ward

Paschal joined Cygnet Hospital Blackheath in December 2022 as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, bringing with him over a decade of extensive experience in mental health nursing and learning disability settings in Ghana. He is deeply committed to promoting patient independence and ensuring safety across diverse clinical environments.

Since joining the team, Paschal has earned strong trust and respect through his leadership-by-example approach. He believes that true leadership involves working alongside the team, not standing apart from it. By immersing himself fully in daily practice, he demonstrates genuine compassion for both service users and colleagues, inspiring a shared commitment to achieving common goals.

Paschal is known for his calm, solution-focused approach, especially in high-pressure clinical situations, and his ability to listen with empathy ensures that both staff and service users feel valued and understood. Paschal encourages open communication, supports professional development and empowers colleagues to take initiative, helping to build a confident, cohesive and resilient team. His dedication, fairness and positive influence make him a key contributor to the supportive culture within Cygnet Hospital Blackheath.

Rumana Ali - Support Services Manager

Rumana is a Part-Qualified Accountant who also has a degree in Accounting and Finance. She has extensive experience in various Admin and Operational roles in different sectors. She also has the experience of establishing and running a successful domiciliary care agency.

Rumana loved the experience of working in health care sector and wanted to explore more in the same sector, hence she joined Cygnet in March 2023. She is passionate about learning new things and believes this role will help her to achieve that.

Dr Amanda Leverenz-Chan - Lead Psychologist

Amanda is an HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist who completed her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (PsychD) in 2011. She has extensive experience working within clinical and forensic settings, providing psychological assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions for individuals with a range of complex mental health presentations.

Amanda has a special interest in forensic mental health, with a focus on the psychological processes underlying offending behaviour, trauma, and recovery. Her practice is informed by a commitment to ethical, person-centred care and the integration of psychological theory with clinical application.

She is a strong advocate for collaborative and multidisciplinary working, recognising the importance of partnership between professionals to ensure safe, consistent, and effective care. Amanda’s therapeutic approach is reflective, integrative, and guided by the individual needs of each client.

Amanda joined Cygnet Hospital Blackheath and Cygnet Lodge Lewisham in June 2025 as the Lead Psychologist.

Jake Cartwright - Head of Occupational Therapy

Jake joined Cygnet in April 2024, bringing over 25 years of extensive experience across a diverse range of mental health and learning disabilities settings. His background spans the private sector, non-profit organisations, and the NHS. Having worked in both in-patient and community services, Jake has supported individuals with a wide array of conditions, including psychosis, affective disorders,personality disorders, learning disabilities, and autism.

Jake possesses comprehensive skills, training, and experience in clinical practice, and staff development. Jake's professional philosophy emphasises person-centered care and co-production, driving meaningful engagement and empowering individuals throughout their recovery.
