Albert’s* history
Albert has a diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder and a learning disability, alongside a history of alcohol abuse.
Before arriving at Beckly, he experienced multiple failed placements in both community settings and hospitals, he struggled to find stability and the right level of support.
When Albert Came to Us
Upon admission to Beckly, Albert was highly withdrawn, which significantly impacted his ability to engage with those around him.
His previous experiences had left him without the structure or support needed to thrive, and he required a carefully tailored approach to rebuild his confidence and independence.
Albert’s Care
The team at Beckly worked closely with Albert to develop a Positive Behaviour Support Plan, ensuring staff had the right strategies to keep him motivated and engaged.
Over time, he was gradually encouraged to take part in activities, both within the service and in the community. Albert particularly enjoyed being out and about, with bus trips to different places becoming a daily highlight.
His confidence grew, and he began participating in more activities, including holidays across the country, which he thoroughly enjoyed. By creating a structured yet flexible routine, staff empowered Albert to regain his independence and embrace new experiences.
Albert Today
After five years at Beckly, Albert has successfully transitioned via the internal pathway to a local Cygnet Supported Living Service, supporting his step towards greater independence.
With continued support, he is already making exciting plans for his next holiday.
