SKILLSFEST at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse
The Occupational Therapy team at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse hosted a SKILLSFEST event, showcasing local opportunities to develop vocational skills.
They learnt about the local volunteering group at a nature reserve where volunteers help to keep the bird feeders topped up. There was also information and leaflets available on free local courses such as cooking on a budget, functional Maths and English, DIY for beginners, and learning a new language.
Some of our service users then took part in a quiz which helped to match their interests with ideas for volunteering and employment roles. Other service users got involved by baking cakes for the event and talking about their experiences of volunteering.
The Cygnet Lodge Brighouse OT team are hoping to organise another vocational event soon and this time invite the local course and volunteering providers to join.
