Patient-led art transforms spaces at Cygnet Manor
The artwork, created by local artist Anna Wheelhouse, represents true co-production in action. During People’s Council and community meetings, patients identified areas that would benefit from artwork and took an active role in selecting designs from Anna’s portfolio.
Head of Care Mellissa Greenwood explains: “Our patients have been involved throughout the entire process. We printed lots of different designs from Anna’s web-page and our patients chose which ones they wanted and where they should be placed.”
Involving patients in decisions about their environment can create meaningful, personalised spaces that can aid in recovery, and the people we support have expressed how delighted they are with the results.
