Marion House Resident’s Flying Scotsman Experience
The iconic steam locomotive, built in 1923, was originally designed to run express services between London and Edinburgh and made history as the first train to reach 100mph. After 40 years of service, it was retired and later restored by the National Railway Museum. Today, the Flying Scotsman travels around the country, giving people the opportunity to come on board and experience how it runs.
During the visit to Ruddington, our gentleman had the opportunity to watch the Flying Scotsman being prepared for its journey and learn how the steam engine operates. He then boarded the train for a scenic round trip to Loughborough, including a brief stop at Rushcliffe Halt. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience, taking in the countryside views while reading more about the train along the way.
He finished off the day with a stop at East Midlands Aeropark, exploring the planes that are on display and even getting to watch some take offs and landings.
