International Men’s Day at Cygnet St William’s

On International Men’s Day the team at Cygnet St William’s hosted an event focusing on men’s mental and physical health.

The event brought together staff, patients, and community members to kick off open conversations about wellbeing and to encourage people to seek help when needed. The aim was to create a friendly, non-judgmental space where men feel comfortable talking about health challenges and experiences.

The day offered many activities. A bake sale raised funds for a local men’s charity chosen by the St Williams patients. Educational sessions shared practical information on both mental and physical health, helping people understand common concerns and where to find support. A raffle added some fun and helped boost fundraising. Benjamin, the local police liaison, gave a thoughtful talk on men’s mental health, covering stress, stigma, and coping strategies. Finally, staff and patients shared personal stories, underscoring that it’s normal and healthy for men to talk about their health.

All in all, the event sent a clear, empowering message: men benefit from talking openly about health, support is available, and the St Williams community stands together to reduce stigma.
