HCPC Week at Cygnet Hospital Derby
A training session led by Lindsay Duhra, our Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist. Lindsay guided attendees through the foundations of the eight senses, diving deep into the concepts of sensory spiders and sensory ladders, as well as their underlying neuroscience and how these principles significantly benefit our service users.
This training was developed by Laura Jane Pinner (LJ), an Advanced Sensory Practitioner and Head of Occupational Therapy at Cygnet Elowen Hospital. Huge shout out to LJ for sharing her expertise and enriching our learning experience.
Lindsay said: “During the session, members of our wider team engaged in hands-on activities, creating their own sensory spiders and sensory ladders. This interactive approach allowed them to personally experience the value of these interventions, fostering a deeper understanding of how they can effectively support our service users in their recovery journeys. Furthermore, the team reflected on this process, recognizing these tools as essential components in their practice.
“To celebrate our participation in CPD week, all attendees received certificates of attendance, affirming their commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.
“Congratulations to everyone who took part in this enriching experience. Let’s continue to inspire one another as we strive for excellence in the care we provide.”
