Get Hooked on Fishing visit Whitmore Fisheries
The Get Hooked on Fishing group at Cygnet Bury Hudson had their first trip out this year when staff and service users from Columbus Ward visited Whitmore Fisheries in Chorley. Another fantastic day out enjoyed by all. The fishing group is a big hit and helps to maintain and develop positive therapeutic relationships between service users and staff. They also provide service users the opportunity to develop new skills both socially and productively whilst having fun.
Paul O’Keefe from the OT team stated “Staff and service users working together was a pleasure to witness, the friendly competition to catch the biggest fish generated such a unique warm atmosphere. The day was a perfect example as to why we run such groups”.
One service user who was on their first trip out with the group said: “I thought I would be bored as I find it difficult to concentrate for long periods and was not sure to go. Paul and the team have never given up and have been asking me for some time now to give it a try. Can’t wait for the next one”.
