Flo the therapy dog a big hit at Cygnet Hospital Wyke

Staff and service users at Cygnet Hospital Wyke have recently had the pleasure of receiving monthly visits from Flo, a therapy dog. The service users really enjoy the visits and spend a lot of time with her.

Flo is part of the Therapy Dogs Nationwide Charity. Therapy Dogs Nationwide is a national charity where visiting volunteers take their own dogs into establishments to provide comfort, distraction, and stimulation.

Nicola Blackwell, Therapy Assistant, said: “Flo is new to the service and we are one of her first assignments. This is the second month she has visited with us and has had a very calming effect on the service users she has met. Flo is a very placid Collie and likes to lie at people’s feet and be petted. She doesn’t have a big liking for snacks, but will occasionally enjoy the odd gravy bone. Flo has an incredibly placid and calming nature and loves meeting people.”
