Everyone is a Winner at Kirkside Sports Fest
The event was thoughtfully themed as Everyone Is A Winner and was hosted at Kirkside in the Poly Tunnel of the Garden. It was organised with residents and our staff at the heart of the day and was more than just a sporting event, but actually a celebration of community, participation and shared victories.
Everybody got into the spirit of the games with staff and people we support lacing up their trainers to hit the makeshift tracks for a series of fun and accessible games tailored to include everyone, regardless of ability.
After burning off energy on the field, everyone cooled off with refreshments. The celebrations didn’t end at the finish line but rather with a karaoke session that had our staff and residents singing their hearts out followed by a shared cake to mark the end of a truly special day.
Emmanuel Ekhibirobo, Support Worker at Kirkside House, said: “There was laughter, cheering and fierce, but friendly, competition across the board. The energy was electric and the field was filled with smiling faces, a few playful stumbles and a lot of high-fives.
“Our photos tell the story best – the beaming faces mid-race, egg balancing with full concentration, and playful moments shared between the people we support and my colleagues. The event showcased what makes Kirkside such a special place – a team that values inclusion, fun and collective achievement.
“Sports Fest 2025 wasn’t just about the games but about connection, laughter and celebrating every individual for who they are. We carry this spirit forward every day here at Kirkside House and Lodge. Because here, truly everyone is a winner.”
