Cygnet Views unveils new ‘Secret Lounge’
Staff and service users at Cygnet Views recently opened their new lounge. Previously a bedroom, the room has undergone a transformation to become a quiet space away from the main communal area for service users to relax. The new lounge has been named the ‘Secret Lounge’ by service users as it opens straight onto the service’s secret garden, a quite place to relax away from the main garden.
Over the last few months service users have worked with staff to pick all the aspects of the room, including the furniture and the colour theme. They picked a sensory theme and the room features sensory toys, sensory lights, wall art, and a piece of art created earlier this year by staff and patients in a group psychology session. It is also equipped with a smart TV for service users to chill out and listen to some music or stream TV shows.
Service users cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the lounge, enjoyed some cake and hot drinks whilst listening to some music, and it is already being enjoyed by all.
