Cygnet Sherwood House raises more than £600 for Mind

Patients and staff at Cygnet Sherwood House recently completed a ‘60 miles walk in September’ challenge for Mind, mental health charity. This included walking indoors and outdoors and recording how far they had walked with either a pedometer or a walking app on their phones.

It also provided the perfect opportunity of walking around Langsett Reservoir, and taking in some breathtaking views that consisted of woodland areas, and views across the open moorland.

Three enthusiastic patients joined the occupational therapist, activity coordinators and support worker in this beautiful location. Enjoying the views of open water, grassland, and footpaths. They were keen to raise money, as well as being part of the walking challenge.

Feedback from a patient at Sherwood House:

“Thank you to Fay, Tracy and Ella for taking me to Langsett Reservoir.
The air was really fresh, and the woods and moorland were amazing.
There were some really tall Scots Pine, Douglas Fir, Spruce Trees and some Blue Spruce there.
The rams, sheep, horses, cows and lambs were refreshing to see.
There were springs and streams. I tried some of the water and you could taste the minerals.
I hope we can do more trips like this again.”

Other hospital staff at Cygnet Sherwood House have also been actively involved in the challenge. An incredible amount of £629 has been raised in total.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the sponsored walk, and generous donations to raise funds for MIND, and for writing about their experience.
