Cygnet Pindar House Whisks Up Support for Cancer Charity

Staff and individuals supported at Cygnet Pindar House in Barnsley united to raise vital funds for Macmillan through a day of fundraising fun.

The Cygnet Health Care service hosted a sweet charity fundraiser, raising over £200 for Macmillan.

The charity provides emotional, financial, practical and physical support to people living with cancer. Macmillan also offers vital cancer services as well as researches and campaigns to achieve better cancer care.

Muhammad Mughal, Physiotherapist at Cygnet Pindar House, explained the service’s motivation to host their own Macmillan coffee morning fundraiser.

He said: “We wanted to get involved in a major national event that has the power to bring communities together. Our fundraiser gave our staff, service users and families a powerful, shared purpose to rally together.”

“Every penny raised for Macmillan counts and can make a real difference to people’s lives.”

Individuals supported at the Cygnet Health Care service worked alongside staff to whisk up a variety of homemade treats to sell, before everyone tried their luck on the tombola.

To keep donations rolling in, there was also a Guess the Book Name and Guess the Bear Name competition.

Muhammad added: “Both staff and service users helped make the day a collective success and everyone pitched in. For our service users, being able to join in helped them feel included and have fun in a relaxed setting.”
