Cygnet Maple House bake a difference for homeless charity
The charity aids homeless and vulnerable adults in Nottinghamshire by offering advice, food parcels, clothing and emotional support.
“We had a lot of fun at our bake sale as we raised funds and gave something back to society. The charity helps people out when life is at the lowest for them. Our service users find it gives them purpose to their day, and it makes them feel very proud,” explained Activity Coordinator Nicola Bicknell.
Individuals supported at Cygnet Maple House played a key part in the day, taking a leading role in preparing the sweet treats to be sold. The proof was in the pudding as donations rolled in throughout the event.
The Cygnet Health Care service’s fundraising efforts kicked off earlier this year with a fancy-dress walk and two car boot sales and will continue this summer with a big sleep-out.
Andrew Hemmington-Page, Interim Hospital Manager at Cygnet Maple House, shared the motivation behind the fundraising.
He said: “The Friary was chosen as our charity of the year by our service users. It is close to home and a cause that the whole service feels really passionate about. We all want to give something back to society so this year-long fundraiser is our way to raise as much money as possible.”
