Cygnet Churchill’s BBQ for Pride
This year’s event was extra special, as it was proudly sponsored by the fantastic staff-led LGBTQ+ Network.
Hosted by Tom Wilson, Occupational Therapy Assistant & LGBTQ+ Network Co-Chair, and the OT team at Churchill, everyone was invited to Wear Your Colours with Pride. The event was co-produced with the service users who designed tie-dye t-shirts, decorations and bunting on display, and provided suggestions for the games and activities held on the day.
Attendees were treated to an amazing spread of food, from traditional BBQ to a range of pasta, salads, and fruit platters, courtesy of the Hotel Services team, as well as a mocktail and make-your-own sundae bar. Highlights included a raffle with prizes, fancy dress booth, temporary tattoo station, and the Collaborative Pride Banner, which included messages of hope, support, and personal pride from staff, service users, and carers.
Tom said: “Events like this are incredibly important to us. They offer a meaningful, joyful space for our service users, carers, and staff to connect as equals, build supportive relationships, and simply have fun. The culture of inclusivity here at Churchill is infectious, and I want to say a massive thank you to everyone behind the scenes who helped to make this happen.
