Celebrating Occupational Therapy Week at Cygnet Hospital Derby
Service users sampled a selection of Italian-inspired snacks and drinks, explored cultural displays, and took part in a fun quiz to learn more about Occupational Therapy Week and the role of occupational therapy in supporting recovery and wellbeing. The session provided opportunities for meaningful engagement, social interaction, and learning through shared experience.
Lindsay Duhra, Head Occupational Therapist, said: “We also distributed a range of sensory tools and fidget items, encouraging individuals to select resources based on their personal sensory preferences, including colour, texture, and pressure needs. This promoted choice, self-awareness, and the development of personalised coping strategies to support emotional regulation and wellbeing.
“The event was a fantastic opportunity to showcase how occupational therapy uses meaningful activity and sensory informed practice to support recovery, independence, and quality of life.
“Happy Occupational Therapy Week from the Occupational Therapy Team at Cygnet Hospital Derby!”
