Animal encounters at Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove
Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove recently welcomed Home Safari, who brought a range of friendly animals for service users and staff to meet.
Visitors included a skunk, tenrec, chinchilla, rabbit, guinea pig, skinny pig, frogs, a bearded dragon and a cockatiel. Everyone had the chance to ask questions, learn about the animals and hold them if they wished.
The visit created many memorable moments across the wards. One individual described holding a frog as a “lifelong dream come true,” while another proudly faced her fear by gently stroking a frog with support from the team.
On Crocus Ward, the cockatiel’s cheeky behaviour made everyone laugh, and the chinchilla’s playful habit of hiding in clothing was a big hit. Staff also enjoyed the fun interactions, making the session memorable for all involved.
