Innovative programme improves quality of life

A Midlands nurse’s pioneering practice has seen him shortlisted for two prestigious awards. Warren Cocker, who developed an innovative programme to improve quality of life for people with learning disabilities and autism.

NEW Services Opening in June 2018

We are excited to be opening three new services throughout June 2018 across Cygnet Health Care. These include a new female PICU at Cygnet Hospital Woking, a new specialist personality disorder service for women at Cygnet Hospital Colchester and a new rehabilitation service for men with a learning disability at Cygnet Hospital Taunton.

Cygnet Hospital Bury joins Social Inclusion Football League

Since the beginning on March 2018 a team of service users from Cygnet Hospital Bury have been competing in the Social Inclusion Football League alongside other hospitals and mental health organisations. Team Cygnet have been participating in monthly fixtures organised by Creative Support and played at Blackburn Rovers Indoor Football Centre.

Cygnet’s Expert by Experience Lead features in video for the Equality and Human Rights Commission

Raf Hamaizia, Cygnet Health Care's Expert by Experience Lead, has recently been at the forefront of a campaign by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) for Mental Health Awareness Week. The campaign, 'Putting mental health at the top of the agenda', features a number of video testimonials by experts by experience, including Raf, talking about their experiences of detention under the Mental Health Act.

The Chair of Health Education England visits Cygnet Hospital Derby

Sir Keith Pearson, the Chair of Health Education England, recently visited Cygnet Hospital Derby to find out more about the education opportunities that Cygnet offer to their staff, especially the HCA student Nurse sponsorship, Cygnet’s new preceptorship programme and the trainee nursing associate scheme.

Cygnet Health Care announce completion of CMA process

The last week saw a pivotal moment within Cygnet Health Care. The sale of The Limes Hospital, previously run by CAS Behavioural Health, to Elysium Healthcare was approved by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), bringing to a close the CMA process relating to the merger of Cygnet Health Care and the Adult Services Division of the Cambian Group.

Cygnet Hospital Woking achieves ‘Good’ rating with CQC

We are delighted to announce that, following an inspection on 20-21 February 2018, Cygnet Hospital Woking has been rated Good in all areas by CQC, joining Cygnet Lodge Woking, which was also awarded a Good status in all areas in 2017.
