Meet the Team

Kelly Shortt - Hospital Manager

Kelly qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2012 after working in care settings for a number of years as a support worker. She began her career With Cygnet Health care at Cygnet Manor as a newly qualified nurse and spent three years within the service whilst progressing to Senior nurse.

After a very brief few months away from the company she rejoined this time working at Cygnet Acer Clinic, where she commenced her first management role as Head of Care before leaving and returning back to Cygnet Manor within the same role in 2018. Kelly was formally appointed and became registered Hospital Manager of Cygnet Manor in 2019, and joined Cygnet Views as Hospital Manager in 2023.

Kanish Jones - Forensic Psychologist

Kanish is a newly qualified psychologist with a passion for supporting individuals within forensic mental health. Having completed her training in forensic psychology, Kanish has developed core competencies in risk assessment, consultancy, research and interventions. Developing a strong foundation in evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, mindfulness-based interventions and trauma-informed care whilst taking into account individual needs and promoting the best outcomes for all individuals in her care.

Kanish has gained hands on experience working with individuals with complex needs including those with severe and enduring mental illnesses, personality disorders, substance misuse difficulties and offending histories.

Heather Davis - Occupational Therapist

Heather qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2018 where she started her career at Cygnet's day services. Heather spent the first two years as a band 5 at Cygnet's day services working with profoundly disabled patients over two sites. After two years she moved over to Cygnet Manor and Cygnet Views, where she is now based full time, working within a learning disability hospital as a band 6 specialist Occupational Therapist.

Asha Osborne - Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Asha completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Communication (Speech and Language Therapy) and later a Post Graduate Qualification in Dysphagia. Asha has worked for Cygnet since 2019, working across various learning disability and autism services. Asha currently works across Cygnet Manor and Cygnet Views.

Asha is responsible for the provision of specialist high quality assessments and interventions relating to speech, language and communication needs of all individuals at the service. This includes both group and individual work, assessment, and therapeutic interventions. On occasions this involves working collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team, working closely with other departments in identifying individual’s treatment pathway.

Asha has an in-depth knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and provides resources to enable individual’s to engage with MCA assessments to the best of their ability, through making all reasonable adjustments. Asha also champions accessible communication and ensures the hospital has an effective Inclusive Communication Environment. As well as completing assessments and interventions for communication, Asha is dysphagia trained and provides assessment and management of eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.
