Jackie Ewington - Interim Hospital Manager

Jackie is an experienced Hospital Manager and has a wealth of knowledge and experience of working in a variety of NHS services spanning almost 20 years prior to her 7 year career with Cygnet Health. She is committed to providing safe and high quality Patient care. Jackie particularly enjoys the Registered Manager Role including the challenges and successes of rehabilitating people who have complex needs and challenging presentations. She aims to provide a supportive and inclusive environment with care pathways to maximise each individual’s potential and abilities.

Jackie is a Registered Mental Health Nurse and has a Graduate Diploma in Teaching. She achieved a BA (Hons) in Health and Social Care, a BSc in Professional Practice and is a Violence Reduction Specialist. She completed several qualifications with the Cabinet Office Emergency Planning College including Exercising and Validating Emergency Plans, Developing and Maintaining your Business Continuity Program, Tactical Emergency Management and Strategic Emergency and Crisis Management.

Jackie is a published author of ‘Best Practices for Reducing the use of Coercive Measures in Forensic Inpatient Settings’ and a co-author of ‘The Positive and Safe Violence Reduction Manual’ which is endorsed by NICE on their website and she has worked on national projects within this specialist area.

Nicola Mullender - Hospital Manager

Nicola has worked in health care since 2008 in numerous mental health settings such as low, medium and high secure, psychiatric intensive care units, acute wards and rehabilitation services.

Nicola qualified as mental health nurse at the University of Derby and has worked in NHS and independent sector organisations carrying out roles such as staff nurse, charge nurse, lead nurse, clinical manager and hospital manager.

Nicola is extremely driven to lead her team in caring for service users in a least restrictive manner, empowering them to envision hope for their futures. She is very proud to have recently supported a patient to be the first in teaching paramedics about personality disorder at university and feels it is extremely important for medical professionals to have insight about this diagnosis.

Outside of work Nicola enjoys travelling, spending time with family and friends and going for long walks with her dog. Nicola is currently on maternity leave.

Andrew Hemington-Page - Head of Care

Andrew started working in mental health services as a support worker in 2010, gained experience working in a vast range of both Independent and NHS services, supporting males and females in various services from care homes to medium secure services. Following studying at University of Nottingham, Andrew qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2017.

Andrew’s first nursing role was within an Acquired Brain Injury service for males. Deciding he needed to gain further experience, whilst completing a Leadership and Management Apprenticeship, and with the support of the unit manager and managers within the region Andrew commenced a rolling secondment. The secondment gave him the opportunity to work within female and male learning disability services, male mental health rehabilitation and female personality disorder services. Following the successful completion of this Andrew worked within a PICU and Acute service for males and became a Clinical Team Leader before gaining the role of Head of Care at Cygnet Maple House.

Dr Beth Harrison - Forensic Psychologist

Beth completed her doctoral training in Forensic Psychology at the University of Nottingham. She has worked across various settings, including both NHS and private secure hospitals, rehabilitation settings and residential services. She has experience in working with a range of different client groups, including with adult men and women who present with personality difficulties, mental illness, autism spectrum disorder and learning disability.

Beth has worked for Cygnet Health Care for several years, where she has gained additional skills and knowledge, all of which has furthered her passion and commitment to her role as a psychologist. She was appointed as psychologist for Cygnet Maple House, a newly established rehabilitation service for women with personality difficulties and complex needs, which she commenced in August 2023. She works alongside a full-time Assistant Psychologist, and is very passionate about developing and upskilling the next generation of psychologists and practitioners.

Beth promotes compassionate and trauma-informed approaches to the care and treatment provided by the psychology department and the wider staff team. Beth is also passionate about service development and co-production, encouraging service users to share their story, whilst empowering them, and developing their skills to lead positive and successful lives in future.
