Woodwork sessions for Old Leigh House residents

Two of the residents from Old Leigh House have started series of woodwork sessions at New Life Wood, based in Wat Tyler Park, Basildon. New Life Wood is a charity which aims to provide hands-on sessions in the workshop. Participants in the sessions encounter all aspects of carpentry using recycled timber and other materials. Under the supervision of experienced staff, all of whom are volunteers, classmates are set to work painting, cutting and assembling various wooden items such as bird feeders. This experience is designed to provide and impart skills and confidence that participants can use as they move on to work in the wider society.
