Scottish Learning Disability Week at Ranaich House

This week is Scottish Learning Disability Week and the team at Ranaich House, our residential service in Dunblane, have been holding a number of activities based on this year’s theme of Digital Inclusion

On Monday the activity looked at “Why does digital matter to me?”. Residents reflected on how accessing the internet is so important for them to: “play online with others”, “do Amazon”, “play video games” and that they: “I love YouTube, it’s my favourite”.

On Tuesday they spoke about keeping safe online, people shared their worries about feeling vulnerable online and how staff support them to access digital safely saying: “staff support me to use Facebook” and “my guardian told staff to be with me online at all times so I am safe”.

They also shared how helpful the internet can be. People shared that they enjoy attending meetings online since Covid: “Zoom is good, I don’t feel awkward like I do in face to face meetings about me” and they enjoy regular contact with their families and care managers who are not local.
