Family Fun Day at Cygnet Nield House
The day enables the individuals we support and their families to come together and enjoy some social ‘down time’ with each other and their peers.
There was a garden BBQ, made by the kitchen staff, and a live DJ that kindly offered their services for the day. The day was full of colour and water, with competitive games held throughout the afternoon.
Sarah Wood, Ward Manager, said: “We host our annual Family Fun Day as we have found that is beneficial for families to meet other families in similar situations and have a shared understanding. It is important for families to be able to interact with their loved ones in our service without the pressure of discussing care and treatment, even just for one day. It makes a difference as carers often experience the negatives of having a loved one in services and to be able to provide them with a ‘day off’ is as lovely to do as it is important.
“A huge thank you to all those involved, all those who travelled from afar to attend, those who came in on their day off to support and anyone who contributed to organising and arranging the day. Thank you to Sophie, our Hospital Manager for allowing the chaos.”
