Double celebrations at Cygnet Views

The team at Cygnet Views held combined celebrations for International Fun at Work Day and World Autism Awareness Day – because the two don’t need to be mutually exclusive!

Staff dressed up in fancy dress and everyone from Mrs Potato Head to Where’s Wally arrived! There was a ‘sensory table’ session, including a taste, touch and smell table, and staff and service users were asked to focus on these senses and consider hypersensitivity to sensory stimuli that is experienced by individual’s with autism. The service users liked the ‘touch’ table and had fun and making things out of moulding clay, and the ‘taste’ table where they were able to build their own desserts.

The team also held an autism quiz which featured interesting facts and famous autistic people and supported in wider discussions about the strengths and qualities of individuals on the Autistic Spectrum. There was an Egg and Spoon Race and a ‘Where’s Wally’ game, followed by a karaoke session in the afternoon. The day was enjoyed by staff and service users alike!
