Cygnet’s LGBTQ+ Network march in Manchester Pride 2023
Last Saturday members of Cygnet’s LGBTQ+ Network took part in the Manchester Pride 2023 parade. Following the success of last year’s involvement the network once again commissioned a float especially for the occasion.
This year’s theme was “Queerly Beloved” marking 10 years since the legalisation of same sex marriage in the UK.
Aaron Bergin, Co-Chair of Cygnet’s LGBTQ+ Network said, “This is a theme close to the community’s heart as it was a massive step forward in equality and acknowledging our right to marry those we love. We dressed up in colourful outfits and some wore outfits fit for a wedding; be it as wedding guests or newlyweds.
“It is always so wonderful and affirming to have so many people come out to watch the parade and show their support for the LGBTQ+ community. Next year we are hoping to march in Birmingham and hope that this will help those that have struggled to travel to join us in the marches in Manchester.”
