Cygnet Views celebrates World Down Syndrome

The team at Cygnet Views celebrated World Down Syndrome Day by wearing odd socks! Individuals with Down Syndrome have an extra copy (3 in total) of their 21st chromosome, hence World Down Syndrome Day being on the 21/3. Chromosomes are shaped like socks, therefore wearing brightly coloured, mismatched socks is symbolic of the uniqueness and individuality of individuals with Down Syndrome. The team at Cygnet Views celebrated this day as part of their fundraising efforts for Footprints Conductive Education Centre; this charity is used by a colleague whose son has Down Syndrome. The team raised a total of £115 by purchasing odd socks and wearing non-uniform!
