Cygnet Lodge Salford’s Carers Event
Last week the team at Cygnet Lodge Salford hosted a carers event at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Manchester.
Following the feedback received from the last carer’s event, the team’s focus was titled ‘Mental health, the myth, the meaning, and the misconceptions.’ There were presentations from Jordyn Leyland (Advocate)- on the Care Act, Dwaine Whelan (Senior Nurse) who spoke about the Mental Health Act and Sofia Sykinioti (Psychologist) discussed 117 Aftercare. Hospital Manager, Louise Swarbrick also gave a presentation on the Capacity Act.
Guests had the opportunity to participate in an interactive session and the night ended with an emotional presentation from Ann, a former patient at Cygnet Lodge Salford, who shared her journey through mental health services. The room applauded at a video which showed her ringing the discharge bell, celebrating the start of more independent living.
