Cygnet Hospital Derby’s annual Carers BBQ
On Saturday 13th July Cygnet Hospital Derby held its annual Carers BBQ. Service users from all three of the hospital’s wards attended the event along with 22 carers.
There was a mocktail stand, garden games and karaoke with service users joining the music therapist for a singalong. The Occuptional Therapy team and service users made cupcakes for sale and there was also a raffle with all proceeds being donated to Mind, the mental health charity.
There were also a number of informative stands and displays including a trauma informed care stand selling mugs, badges, keyrings, etc. There was also a safeguarding stand, addictions recovery stand, medication information board and a carers stand with copies of June’s carers newsletter, carers handbooks and triangle of care handbooks. Members of the multi disciplinary team were also on hand to answer any questions.
The event raised £102.93 for the charity Mind. Service users sold items with our new Trauma Informed Care logo on, which was designed by one of the hospital’s service users.
Feedback was really positive with lots of compliments about the day.
