She works as Associate Medical Director and Consultant Psychiatrist at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. She is an associate of the Academy of Medical Educators UK, member of International League Against Epilepsy and associate of Chartered Institute of Management. She is a recognised trainer, educator and mentor for doctors in training. She completed her training as a Coach in Quality Improvement via Institute of Health Improvement, US. She is a trained expert witness for civil and criminal cases.
Dr Arshad’s areas of clinical expertise include diagnosis and management of Neurodevelopmental Disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism in children as well as adult, complex mental health problems in neurodivergent individuals, assessment and management of trauma, impairment of behaviour and its management. She is interested in under-recognition of Neurodevelopmental Disorders in women as well as individuals from ethnic minority groups, behavioural phenotyping and genetic disorders associated with Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
