Campfire sessions at Cygnet Sherwood Lodge

So far this year the team at Cygnet Sherwood Lodge have held two outdoor cooking sessions / campfires as part of their weekly Forest school sessions.

During the first session they did some hot chocolate in the Dutch oven and then made s’mores. The service users get involved in all aspects of the activity, from sourcing the ingredients, starting the fire and then helping to clean down afterwards.

For the second session they cooked “campfire stew” which consisted of gammon, beans, kidney beans, tomatoes, vegetables and seasonings. They then wrapped baking potatoes in foil, dug a trench, filled it with embers from the fire and put the potatoes there to cook. The session was finished again with toasting some marshmallows over the fire for pudding.
